大崎上島は南は愛媛県大三島、岡村島に海上1キロメートルで面し、北は竹原市、安芸津町に海上10キロメートルで面しています。
広島県本土側とは、竹原・安芸津港と高速船、フェリーで結ばれており、その他大崎下島、大三島・今治との便もあります。
人口は7,988人（平成27年12月末現在）、面積は43.11平方キロメートルで、気候は瀬戸内海独特の温暖少雨な気候で、降雪・降霜日数も多くありません。

Osaki Kamijima faces Omishima and Okamurajima in Ehime Prefecture to the south,
1 kilometer out to sea, and faces Takehara City and Akitsu Town to the north, 10 kilometers out to sea.
The mainland side of Hiroshima Prefecture is connected to the ports of Takehara and Akitsu by high-speed boats and ferries,
and there are also services to Osakishita Island, Omishima, and Imabari.
The population is 7,988 (as of December 31, 2015) and the area is 43.11 square kilometers. The climate is warm and rainy,
characteristic of the Seto Inland Sea, and there are not many days with snowfall and frost.
